Tintable Belt

If you would like to change the color of the belt you can!

Make a copy of the existing skirt in case you ever want the original belt again.
Right click on the skirt and choose Edit from the pie menu.
The edit/build palette window should be open now. There are several options at the top of the window (Position, Rotate, Stretch, Select Texture, and Edit linked parts). Click the box next to Edit linked parts.
Now click on the belt. It should be the only thing selected now.
Under the Texture tab you'll see two little icon windows - one for the Texture and one for the Color. Click on the Color square. Now you can pick whichever color you like best!

Mix and Match Outfits

New summer outfits come with two types of top, and three types of skirt, and the poof skirt can be overlaid with the longer skirts to create even more options. You can mix and match to create different looks.

Summer Shimmer is available in several different colors, or you can get the Super Pack that has all the shimmers plus an additional 50+ colors.

The Super Pack outfit has a dialogue menu to change colors. The Shimmers sub menu section has all eight of the shimmer colors, the other sub menus have the additional 50+ single colors.

Art Topiary!

Decoration or Frame

If you love the art on the hedges at Raglan's Art Walk, you can get the Art Topiary Package to have a place to put your artwork all year around! Or, if you just want topiary for decoration, there is a version without a frame as well.

To add your own artwork image to the frame, rez a copy of the topiary. The portrait version is a vertical frame, and the landscape is a horizontal frame. Select the picture in your inventory and drag it over and drop it on the front face of the frame.

Alternatively, you can right click on the frame and choose edit. Then select the option to select texture and click on the front face of the frame. Then you can choose the texture tab in the edit palette and click on the texture icon. A pop-up window will then allow you to select your image from your inventory.

Out of this world hair for the daring tiny!

Click on the hair to bring up a dialog menu. The menu has sub menus for the rings and hair.

The hair is copy and mod. Make a backup copy of the hair before you resize/modify it just in case! The hair has mod permissions so you can resize and edit the hair so it better fits your avatar.

Note: this group is not tied to a particular community. It is for all tiny shoppers and shopkeepers on the grid.

Do you have a shop that sells Tiny wares? If you are a shopkeeper, please let Misa Delight or Awenbunny Lisle know so they can add you to the shopkeeper role.

Guidelines

If you are a shopkeeper, please follow these guidelines. These are meant to keep the amount of notices to a reasonable amount so that we keep our lovely shoppers from dialog overload!
1. Please post notices at most twice a month (every two weeks).
2. Only post about tiny items, or items that work fine for tinies. This is the only group I know of (so far) that posts about new releases for tiny avatars that isn't tied to one specific community. If you've got a list of new releases that are primarily tiny, but also include some biggie stuff - that's fine. Just don't send out notices that are primarily about humanoid items! There are already tons of groups for that.
3. Please only post about new releases in your stores. However, you can add other information (for example if you are having a sale on older outfits) in your notice as long as it follows the new releases- essentially we don't want a lot of popups about older wares... we primarily want notices about new items!
4. If possible, attach a notecard with a landmark, picture, and more detailed information to your notice. Landmarks so we can easily find your store, a picture so we can see what your new release looks like, and any other information you think is relevant!
5. Posting in chat is fine as long as you don't post the same thing over and over.

Buying Options

Delight is switching over to new vendors to offer "buy as gift" and gift card options!

Gift Cards

Gift Cards are available in 50L, 100L, 200L, and 300L values. You can buy something for less than or equal to the value of the card. If there is a remainder, the card will let you know how much you have left and you can use it towards another purchase.

If you would like to buy something that costs more than the value on the card, you will be prompted to pay the remainder.

At this time you can't combine gift cards (so you can't use two 50L cards to buy a 100L item).

How to use:

Wear the gift card
Find a Gift Card Enabled Vendor
(a sign in the store will let you know which vendors accept gift cards - see screenshot below)
Find the product on the vendor so the main panel is showing it
(scroll with arrows or use the search button)

*Important* make sure the main (large) panel is showing the item that you want!

Touch the main panel showing the product
A dialog box should appear asking if you would like to purchase with a gift card

Buy as Gift

If you would like to buy a specific item as a gift for someone, you can use the "buy as gift" option.
How to use:

Find a Vendor that has the "buy for gift" button (see screenshot below)
Find the product on the vendor so the main panel is showing it
(scroll with arrows or use the search button)

*Important* make sure the main (large) panel is showing the item that you want!

Touch the "buy for gift" button
The vendor should whisper something along the lines of "Please speak the name of the friend you wish to purchase a product as a gift for. I will listen for the next 30 seconds."
Type in the full name of the person you would like to send the gift to. Spelling counts!
You should see a confirmation whispered to you that says the vendor is looking up your friend's key. Once the key has been found it will let you know, and say something along the lines of "The next product you buy from this vendor within the next two minutes will be delivered to them. To cancel this, click this button again. If somebody other than you uses this vendor in the meantime, you will need to enter the name again."
Pay the vendor for the item on the Main Panel
You should see a confirmation that your gift is being sent to the person!

Search

The new vendors have a search function. Click the search icon (see screenshot below) to start the search. The vendor will ask you to type in chat what you are looking for.

Example:
Delight Vendor whispers: Please type what you would like to search for. I will show the first product that matches what you type ...
Misa Delight: mushroom
Delight Vendor whispers: Searching for 'mushroom' ...
Delight Vendor whispers: I have found a match for you; moving the vendor to the product ...

Vendor Information

Clockwise from top left:

1. Gift Cards Accepted? Look for the sign that says "Gift Card Enabled Vendor" if you wish to use a gift card to purchase an item. Some vendors do not accept gift cards. If you would like to buy something with a gift card that is in a non-gift-card enabled vendor, please contact Misa Delight!
2. Main Panel This is the item that will be purchased when you pay the vendor. Make sure that you have the right item selected and displayed in the large main panel. If you pay one of the smaller icons, it will still deliver the item in the large main panel!
3. Search Click the search icon to start a search through the vendor's items.
4. Buy as Gift Button If you would like to purchase a specific item as a gift for a friend, click this button to start the process. Make sure that the gift you would like to buy is displayed in the large main panel!
5. Arrows These arrows scroll through sections. Within each section are smaller icons - click one of those to put the product up on the main panel for purchase.

Seven Prims, Seven Poses

Changing Colors

To change the color of either the futon or the pillows, click on the base of the futon (the largest shape). If you are the owner, you should now see a blue dialog box with two options: pillows or futon. Each of those options will take you to another menu allowing you to choose a color category, then finally a specific color. You can mix and match colors to create harmonious duets or funky combinations.

Sitting

There are seven poses for tiny avatars. Each shape in the futon has a different tiny sit associated with it. Right-click on one of the parts of the futon and choose sit.

Main cushion: Recline on back with feet on arm rest
Front Pillow: Sit in center of futon, legs crossed, arms up
Right Pillow: Sit on right side of futon against arm rest, one arm up
Left Pillow: Sit on left side of futon, legs crossed, arms up
Back of Futon Pillow: Recline on side on top of pillows
Arm Rest: Recline on side of arm rest towards the back
Arm Rest Base: Sit on floor leaning against the base of the arm rest

Permissions

The futon is copy, but it's better to pull a new copy from the inventory instead of shift-dragging. Shift dragging to copy sometimes glitches the poses. If that happens, just delete the futon and pull another out of inventory.

360 View

Free Utility at Peek360

Peek360° is a free utility for viewing virtual worlds via a browser. To test it out I put in a request for the spot near my shop on Morning Shire. Of course, being a tiny, I put in the coordinates my map showed. I was really impressed when I got an in-world IM from one of the Peek360 team letting me know that although the shot was coming out, it works much better when given an altitude of a humanoid avatar. They recommended I fly up a bit and then submit that altitude number. UPDATE: I just got a notice that they changed this so smaller avatars don't have to submit a different altitude!

Another helpful tip: stand at least 8 meters away from the coordinates you submitted if you'd like to be in the pictures!

I finally managed to not only make a machinima thing, but also to get it up on youtube! Hope it is still in time for the Raglan Shire Film Festival. It's um... very "first machinima-esque", but I finished it! woOooot for first try - give me an A for effort? :D

Autism Awareness @Tiatopia

Huckleberry Hax Poem & Misa Delight Sculpture

Tiatopia Island has been hosting an Autism Awareness Event all week with tons of events - live music, art auction, lectures, stories, poetry readings, contests and so much more. The event is raising awareness and funds for Autism both in and out of Second Life.

The event that I have been a part of is the Poetry Build. From the press release:

POETRY BUILD: The biggest event of the entire week is one that blends poetry and 3D SL Building. Poems that have been collected from SL's poets are displayed and then the SL builder interprets the poetry using SL prims. This build will last for 4 days and will culminate into 2 days of voting. People will vote for their favorite duo by donation. All proceeds will go to Autism Research and Awareness Education. The winners will recieve high quality donated prizes from vendors all over the grid. The winners will also have their poem and build on display at Tiatopia's Fine Arts Gallery and Sculpture Garden.

The poem, "Aspie", is by Huckleberry Hax. It's a great poem and was really inspirational to build to!

I went to Huckleberry's blog to see the post about the event and was surprised to see all the stories! Huckleberry has written a lot! And they are in online book format, too. I've only gotten half-way through one of them so far, but it's really well-written and interesting. So now I want to read them all! (Though as a PG avi I feel compelled to note that they aren't PG books.) [update: I finished the book and it was awesome!]

I've also put up the build and a screenshot showing the poem at the sky gallery on I AM Columbia island. It's a gallery show called "Collaborating with Myself" and has work by Li and Misa (SLURL).

A Landmark HUD

The Raglan Port-O-Matic was created because I wanted a simpler way of being able to access places I go often, without having to search through my inventory for landmarks, or having to buy or use a HUD that did more things than needed.

It comes with five common Raglan destinations preset as buttons, cultural landmarks pre-stocked in the Content Tab, and you can add more landmarks that you can then access by using the arrow keys, and the MAP button. Since it has been "Raglanized" it is free to the Raglan community (SLURL).

How to Use

1. Right click on the Port-O-Matic in your inventory and select Wear. By default it attaches to the TOP position on your HUD. If you already have something in that spot you can right click it and select "Attach to HUD" then a spot that has nothing attached. If after you attach it you can't see it, read the troubleshooting section below.

2. Once it is attached to your HUD, right-click on it and select edit. Go to the Content tab.

3. Open your inventory and find landmarks of places you frequent. Drag them into the Content tab of your Port-O-Matic. It should let you know it's updating, and when it's ready to use!

4. In the Content Tab rename your landmarks to a 28 character length or less for optimal readability on the HUD. If you make a landmark in Raglan Shire for example, you might want to right-click on it in the Content tab and change the name from the default to something you can easily identify... like "Paw & Whisker" or "Heron Shire Forest".

5. Use the arrow buttons to move forward and back through the landmarks until the one you wish shows up in text above the MAP button. Click the MAP button to open the MAP, then Teleport to teleport.

Presets

There are five buttons that are preset with common Raglan Shire locations.

From left to right:
1. Raglan Shire
2. Silica Cubicle
3. Primtionary Platform
4. Raglan Galaxy
5. the fishing spot on Heron Shire's Wharf

As of the 1.6 version, the landmarks that are already in the HUD are:
1. Museum of Raglan History
2. Raglan Aerodome
3. Raglan Arcade
4. Raglan Bakery
5. Raglan Carnival
6. Raglan Playground
7. The Great Tree Steve
8. Raglan Shire Welcome Center

These are landmarks to some of the cultural highlights in Raglan Shire but you can always add more!

Adding Landmarks

Troubleshooting

Deleting Landmarks: You can delete landmarks that are already in the Content tab, but your Port-O-Matic needs at least one landmark in order to use the MAP and arrow key buttons.

MAP Error: If your landmark's name is too long it may lose the information needed to open the MAP to the correct location. To fix this, shorten the name of the landmark.

Amount of Landmarks: The more landmarks you add, the longer it takes to scroll through them with the arrows. It also takes a lot longer for the Port-O-Matic to read through them all. I've tried it with every single landmark I have and it still worked... but I don't recommend having a lot stored in it - just the ones you use every week, or every month.

HUD not Visible: Try attaching to a different open spot in your HUD, then right-click on it and select "edit". Once in edit mode use the arrows to move it to the desired spot. Alternatively you can right-click on another HUD item, and "zoom" out (on a pc with a wheeled mouse you can do this by scrolling with the wheel until the HUD items become smaller on your screen). Once you can see the HUD, you can select it and use the arrows (while still in edit mode) to move it to the desired position on your screen.

Buttons Too Small: You can right-click the HUD and stretch it to make the buttons easier to read.

Winter Dream

The Winter Dream gown has a high collar, and layers of tulle. It is color change, so the menu allows you easy & quick access to over 50 colors. The matching beautiful tiara also has a menu allowing it to switch between 14 different gem options.

Galaxy Dream

The Galaxy Dream gown has a heart shaped bodice and stars scattered over the swirls of fabric. The fabric comes in over 50 colors, plus a few extra color variations inspired by planets (Pluto, Neptune, etc.).
The striking tiara is brilliantly constructed, and the menu allows you to switch between 14 gemstones.

Both the Winter Dream and Galaxy Dream outfits are available at Karma's (SLURL) and Delight (SLURL) in Raglan Shire.

An Introduction to Tiny Clothesmaking

I've been making clothes for tiny avatars in Second Life (tinies) for about 14 months now, and everytime I start a new outfit I still learn something new... and for every outfit I put out in my store I've got another 10 or so versions that I've chucked out of frustration. It's definitely not the easiest of things to do!

As many tinies have asked about clothes building lately, and as I feel I am finally in a spot where perhaps I have more suggestions to offer than questions to ask, I thought I would post a simple introduction to clothes for tinies.

So how do you start making clothes for tinies? In some ways it's completely different from humanoid (biggie) clothes, but in other ways it's really similar. Most of the clothing for humanoids is created in a graphics program and then imported in as a texture. Prims (primitive shapes) can be added to it, but the base of the outfit is made of textures applied to the built-in clothing options (i.e., in appearance mode > create new socks).

One of the designers I admire has said several times that every time she starts a new tiny outfit it begins with an egg.

Tiny clothing needs to fit around prim bodies. You can't use the built-in clothes templates that SL has. Instead of starting with textures, clothes for tinies always start with prims.

If you think about it, a sphere elongated a bit, and a couple of cylinders gets you pretty far. True it's kinda chunky and the plywood look is soooo 2004, but you can at least see the potential.

To really make this chunky-clunky start into an awesome outfit, prims will need to be manipulated, textures applied and once it is all done it will need to be set up to attach to a tiny's body. It takes time to hone your tiny clothesmaking skills but if you are passionate about learning you can do it!

Applying a texture ("Fabric - Zebra Skin" from the default SL Library) improves the look of the outfit. Further adjustments to the texture (changing the Repeats Per Face under the Texture tab of the Build Palette Window) makes the outfit look even better!
Since this is a texture from the default inventory library it's not original, but it looks better than the plywood for now. Uploading my own original texture will make this outfit more unique.

First, a word of caution: Clothing making for tinies is NOT a lucrative business. If you want to learn to make clothes because you want to open a shop and have dreams of rolling in Lindens, you should instead investigate humanoid (biggie) clothing making. Many of the most talented artisans I know in Raglan either don't make enough to pay rent on their shops each month, or they make *just* enough to squeak by. To pay store rent fees, many artisans supplement sales by entering contests, working in SL at places or events, or other creative means (not everyone has a credit card and disposable income to spend on buying Lindens!).

My formula for making tiny clothing and accessories: patience, creativity, and details!

Patience

This is not something that most tinies learn in a day. Or a week. Or even a month. There are a lot of things to consider, and it takes time to get prims and textures to behave the way you think they ought to.
To reduce your frustration level:

Start small. The first tiny clothing item I made was a sleeveless t-shirt. Once I got that down, I moved on to t-shirts with sleeves. If you start too big or detailed you may get frustrated when things aren't working out the way you would like. Smaller projects that you can conquer build confidence and help you understand how more complex projects could be created.
Be willing to work on something for several weeks if need be. Some outfits or items just take time to get "right".
If something is just not working, try taking it back into your inventory and starting a different project. Time away from something might give you new insight when you bring it back out again.
Find some alpha and beta testing buddies. I am really fortunate that some fellow artisan friends are willing to be test subjects for the things I make. They try stuff out as if they had really bought it - meaning they wear it, fuss with the menus, resize it if necessary, etc. Then they IM me to tell me all the things that aren't working. I can't even begin to list how many things I've made had to go through several revisions before they were ready to give out or sell. (And some things never made it out of beta!)
Name your in-progress work. After awhile it gets really hard to find something if it is named Object and you have 2,500 other Objects in your inventory.
Version your projects. Start something then take a copy into your inventory and give it a number. Like, polkadance-shirt-v1. Then work on it some more and take another copy into your inventory. Rename that one polkadance-shirt-v1.2. If you version your projects like this, you can always "roll back" to an earlier version if you suddenly modify it in a way you don't like. This will also be extremely helpful if for some reason SL crashes or glitches. Occasionally you can lose an hour or more's work if you build something without taking copies (there is a technical explanation of why you might lose updates/work on attached items in the forums if you'd like to read about it).
Keep your work organized in folders. Your inventory can become insanely overloaded if you don't!

Creativity

One of the coolest things about Raglan in general is that you can find things that you can't really see elsewhere on the grid. After you get a couple of simple projects under your belt, and when you begin to brainstorm about what to make next, try to think of something you haven't seen around the Shires.

This isn't as easy as it sounds - as my friend Karma says, "Tiny Minds Think Alike". So if you start working on a rocket-powered-magic-toast-with-jam-sled with polka-dot-plush-seats and then you happen to see that someone else has already made that, don't feel too bad - sometimes tinies are psychic and they build very similar things. However, you want to be really careful that you don't go into someone's shop and see what they have, then make the same thing. That's considered bad form!

If you get stuck on trying to come up with original ideas, try:

Be as silly as possible. Fill in the blanks: if only you had _____, you could _______. Then try to scale your ideas into something you could actually make. For example, if only I had one million marshmallows and 2 vats of chocolate, I could have the most amazingly yummy napping spot. Well, maybe I could make a graham cracker bed, with a marshmallow comforter and a chocolate pillow? Prim-wise that would be fairly simple. I would just need some sweet textures to make it look as tasty as it sounds!
Do some RL artwork. Paint, draw, sculpt with playdoh or clay. While you are creating your RL artwork, think about your tiny SL self. Inspiration may hit you!
Fill in the blank: __________ would make life 300x better. Think big, then scale it down to something you could actually build. For example, A flying broom that auto-guided so I could read a book at the same time as it flew me around would make life 300 times better! I actually did make a scaled down simpler version of this - it's in one of my lucky boards.
Play in the Shire with some tinies. They are inspirational!

Details

This is where you really turn an egg into a work of art. Manipulating prims, creating textures, and scripting are some of the basic skills you will want to work on.

Manipulate Prims: Being able to change the parameters of a prim to turn it from a cylinder into a bell-bottomed leg of a pair of pants, or to take a sphere and alter it into a tube top, or torture a torus until it looks like a wisp of hair takes practice and experimentation. Attend classes at Raglan U to learn about prim manipulation in general, check out some online resources and tutorials, and play around with prims.
Sculpties are prims with a special texture applied. They allow you to make more organic and complicated shapes, but they also have a higher learning curve if they aren't pre-built. Full perm sculptie textures to use in your builds can be found for purchase, or you can make sculpties in-world (using tools like Sculpt Studio or the free and open source Open Loft), or in an external 3D application (there are plenty of free options).
Create Textures: You can buy full perm textures or get them from Midnight Mania boards or hunts, but at some point you will probably want to get into a graphics program (like Photoshop or the free GIMP graphics program). Adding your own personal graphic touches to an outfit can really make it fabulous. Be careful that if you are using non-original textures that you have the rights to do so - especially if you want to eventually sell your work! And yes there is a cost to building your own projects. Each texture upload is currently 10L. This can really add up if you are testing out textures. Two options for the Linden-conservative tiny: Use the Emerald Viewer to temporarily upload a texture (it doesn't last long, but you can apply a texture to a prim and see how it looks before spending the actual Linden in a permanent upload), or use the BETA grid to try out textures. The BETA grid isn't permanent either, and you need to re-upload and create your work on the live grid, but it is an option to save some L when you are first starting out, or if you don't want to use an alternative viewer like Emerald.
Script: Depending on what you make, you might want to add scripting to give it that extra kick. Unless programmatically inclined, though, it seems like most folks learn by first working on basic prim manipulation, then moving to textures, and then up to scripting.

Attachment Points

There are lots of opinions about where to attach your prims, but here are two things to keep in mind:

Most hair is attached to the skull. If you are making a hat, consider attaching it to another point so it doesn't replace someone's hair. For the first 8 months I created hats that all attached to the skull - until a kind possum pointed out that my hats kept replacing her hair. As a cat often sporting wild hair, you would have thought this would have occurred to me much earlier in my hat-making career! Now I make hair that attaches to the skull, and hats that attach to the chin. This isn't perfect, though, as many tinies have tongues or other items that attach to the chin.
A lot of vehicles actually use the pelvis attach point. If you have clothes attaching to that point also, they will be replaced by the ride. This can leave a tiny pant-less!

One Size Does Not Fit All

Even among one type of tiny (Wynx's tinies for example) there is variation in the size of bodies, arms, heads, and legs. It is really difficult to make one outfit to fit all tinies unless you use some type of scripting (Azelle sells a nifty system for builders called AnyTiny that allows you to do just that!).

If you are just making things for yourself you don't really need to worry too much about this - as long as your outfits fit you that's all that matters. If you want to make something for a friend or to give or sell away, then you will need to think about how to make sure the outfit can fit the wide range of tiny bodies.

Perhaps the easiest option is to make your work MOD so that others can modify the outfit or accessory to fit their particular tiny shape (knowing how to change permissions is extremely important!). Other options include making different versions for each tiny type, or using a scripting solution as mentioned above.

I was very happy to see a post at New World Notes about Second Life's Great Undiscovered Personalities that mentioned Zayn Till - the person who originally brought Raglan Shire into existence, and who has nurtured and helped develop one of the most amazingly creative communities in Second Life.

I wanted to interview him in response to the NWN post because he has had such a positive impact on so many lives, and helped artists and creators in the Raglan Shire community to build experiences and host events that have brought tears to eyes, become precious memories, and started life-changing friendships.

Me: What is the best thing about Raglan?

Zayn: I really love the community. I think it's the people who give raglan a lot of its personality. Raglan folks are so friendly, helpful, welcoming, and creative it makes for a really nice place to log into.

We're constantly doing different things all the time so there's a fun energy about the sims. There's always, art, games, group activities, classes, live music, gatherings of all types and wonderful themed extended events for people to enjoy. Everyone is encouraged to participate and add their ideas and be a part of it all. Plus it's not like it's in any way any type of official entity/business as nobody really takes any of it serious. It's a dedicated place with lots of silliness sprinkled in :)

Me: Why did you start Raglan Shire?

Zayn: Before the Raglan Shire community began, I had been running 5 or 6 private sims that I owned with the intent being to give people a safe place to rent land and realize their SL vision - whether it was a business or a virtual residence or wotnot. However during the time I was renting these sims out, I realized that there really wasn't anything for me to do other then play virtual apartment manager. There was no real creativity involved. I tried hard to do right by the tenants and thought I did a pretty good job but... it was a job and I wanted more silliness XD

At that point I was making the transition from normal biggie human Ken doll avatar to being a tiny bunny avatar. I love the tiny avatars... they're so cute and unassuming, everyone who sees em smiles, and I think they're a natural ice breaker. 15 years ago I was a tiny bunny avatar in the old worlds chat program so the first time I saw the Wynx tinies and saw the bunny av she makes, I was like OH HELL YEA! Wooot!

So by the time I was nearly completely transitioned to full time tiny, a friend of mine who knew Wynx and Nora from Extrovirtual mentioned to me that they were looking for a new home as the private sim they were on had some disruptive neighbors. We both thought it might super awesome to have Extrovirtual on one of my sims and then started talking to them about the idea of not just having them set up shop, but create a community based around tinies; a dynamic, creative, welcoming place that anyone could come and be a part of.

Raglan Shire had already been in existence but not for any other purpose then as a rental sim. We decided to use it for Extrovirtual and it was moved and connected to two other sims that would eventually become part of the Community Cluster. We built the tree city and mapped out the sim, contacted other tiny content creators about the grid, and in April of 2007 Raglan Shire was re-launched as a tiny themed community.

Since its inception its grown to become a 7 sim cluster with shops, residential areas, and lots and lots of public locales for people to explore and enjoy. we have a Sandbox for folks to build in which we call the SILICA CUBICLE and an enormous central area that we use on the Raglan Shire sim itself to stage our large monthly events - Medieval Festivals, Winterfests, Halloween months, Mardi Gras, Art walks, and everything and anything else we do or want to do.

Raglan is a place I always wanted in the real world but due to logistics could never actually realize. A place where people could interact, collaborate and be creative in a very friendly and encouraging environment.. I wouldn't mind living there myself :)

Me: What are your hopes for Raglan Shire in 2010?

Zayn: 2010? eeep, I can't even think past next week... ummm... I just hope that we can continue to do wot we've been doing and continue welcoming new folks as they visit and become part of our lil family. We love meeting new folks and having them add their personality to the tiny borg collective jhehe.

Fuzznutz Rocks Medieval Fest 2009

Fuzznutz!

The longest running all-tiny-band, Fuzznutz, played a fabulous set today as the opening band for Gina Stella. Founding members Awor Blabbermouth, Chaffro Schoonmaker, and Zayn Till were joined by new members Bo Fiddlesticks on keyboards and me, Misa Delight, as lead singer.

This was an incredible day! We had so much fun and the crowd was WILD!

Raglan was overloaded with people attending the show!

Why do tinies like to sit on things?

Rez something near a tiny and it's highly likely they will either riverdance on it or sit on it. Take a tiny to an art exhibit and yep... at least one will be sitting on an artwork.

Karma was riding one of the butterflys so Bartolo and I joined her. Those things are heartier than they look - 3 tinies on its back and it had no problem flying around.

How many tinies can sit on a life-sized Wafflegirl doll? Seven so far...

Karms, Zayn, and I were hunting down the elusive openloft that is a free in-world sculptie builder, when after the third or fourth tele we end up in a sim with some type of bubble alarm. The alarm goes off and bubbles are released. Well of course we all had to sit on a bubble and see how far up we could go!

Karms just released a really cool wand that summons waffles! And cookies! And... 11 other things including a kitchen sink! It's a lot of fun and we ran around magicking stuff into existence =)

Haiku Speed Build!

50 minutes, 50 prims, 1 haiku

One of the SL events I love participating in is the Haiku Speed Build every Thursday at 6:00 PM SL in Afar (slurl) and once a month in Raglan (see event calendar for dates and times).

At the start of the event the host, Special Jewell, will post a haiku. The counter then begins ticking down and participants only have a maximum of 50 minutes and 50 prims to express the haiku in 3D. Any scripting or textures can be used, but all elements of the build must be created from scratch.

At the end of the 50 minutes participants and viewers walk around and look at the different interpretations of the haiku and then everyone votes for their top 3 favorites. This is all in good fun and honestly I am always surprised when I occasionally win, but being the dork that I am I love to take a picture of my build with a ribbon, or with me standing next to the ribbon.

Last night I had the honor of sharing 3rd place with my awesome friend Karma!

Second Time Teaching at Raglan University

New Class: Mystical Globe

Tonight I held my second Raglan University class - "Mystical Globe". There were lots of folks attending (*makes note to have more classes on holidays*), and I think it went really well. I have committed to hosting one class a month - which actually is a lot of work for me to put together so I'm a little nervous about this schedule!

Tonight's class used some pre-built scripts to make a mysterious swirling surface on the globe, subtle magical mist, and a random fortune whispered on click.

We also built the globe itself and put in a figure (Karma or Zayn) in the middle to tell the fortune.

Still thinking about what next month's class will be, but I do have some ideas already :)

Magic in Raglan

Karms and I were running around the Shire turning tinies into frogs. It was the only spell we knew. Since then Karms has learned more spells including one that summons waffles. Perfect for any tiny!
